3. I find no setting in TI where I can get TI to post a message to "Notifications" / "Action Center" pane when the service either fails to start, or is stopped for some reason other than system shutdown / restart. (Wouldn't that at least be nice so I could manually fix the issue BEFORE losing a scheduled update to non-performance.)
The uninstall / reinstall dance gets old after a while as does frequently (like multiple times a power-on sesssion) to make sure the scheduler service is running. It would be a whole lot nicer if Acronis (apparently unable to determine what specific HW/SW config their software does not tolerate) would at least add a "Scheduler failed to start" or "Scheduler stopped" alert (with perhaps a "restart" option) to the "Notifications" / "Action Center" pane or notification email address.
seagate discwizard scheduler service is stopped
Have you both tried setting the scheduler service to automatic, delayed? Something else in your system may be starting up with priority (AV perhaps) and could be requiring a little more time for the other background services which will timeout if not completed quickly enough. Switching to delayed, but automatic might help.
When Windows 8 boots up, in the lower right screen is a small dialog box reading: "True Image. Scheduler service is stopped. Resolve problem" and the last two words are a link. When I click on that link, the User Account Control dialog comes up and I click on "OK." In a few seconds, I see a flash of a small dialog that I can't read because it is too fast. When I check my running services, I see that "Acronis Scheduler 2 Service" is running and the status is "Automatic," which means that it starts at each boot-up. So why am I getting these warning dialogs each time, and what can I do to stop them?
OK, I found the answer after plowing through the extensive Acronis Knowledge Base. The exact error I was getting is described at in a Knowledge Base article titled: "41540: True Image 2013 by Acronis Errors Out with 'Scheduler service is stopped' on 32-Bit Systems." I downloaded the "fix," installed it and rebooted. Acronis Scheduler2 Service came up "Running," and there was no error dialog in the lower right screen.
The problem seems to be happening to me not on a fresh restart, but every time the computer wakes from sleep or hibernation. The problem NEVER happened before the last True Image 2013 update. Now it happens EVERY time the computer wakes. The TI build number is 6514, and the OS is Windows 8 Pro, 32 bit. I, too, tried the batch file mentioned above, but it didn't fix the problem. I looked in services.msc and the service (scheduler2) is actually reported as "running" even when the error message is present on the screen and all other properties of the service are set properly as they were after TI was installed. I've also tried to uninstall and reinstall. The only thing I have left is to roll back to the prior build of True Image (it never had this problem). I'll be trying that next and I'll post my results.
I've become so used to this dialog popping up in the notification area that I just routinely click on the link there and usually, but not always, up pops a mid-screen dialog with a link: "Enable scheduler service." When I click on that, it starts the scheduler service, but later when waking the computer from sleep or hibernation, there is the notification area dialog again. There is a check box at the bottom of the mid-screen dialog: "Show notification about this problem in the system tray." Mine is checked by default. If I uncheck it, presumably I'll not see the notification again, but I'll also not know whether the scheduler is running or not. Come on, Acronis -- let's fix this problem!
There is NO user resolution for "Acronis scheduler service has stopped". There is, however a workaround that always works. I've had Acronis True Image for years, and this problem may not occur for a long time, and then may occur once in awhile, and sometimes keeps happening almost efery time. It's imtermittent. Every so-called solution I've ever seen either doesn't work for me, or it works once ro twice and then no longer.

Plenty of people recommend Acronis True Image (www.acronis.com), and the Home edition is good value at around 30$40. Owners of Maxtor and Seagate hard drives have it even easier, as they can download the free Acronis-powered DiscWizard utility (www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/discwizard). However, when I discovered DriveImage XML (www.runtime.org) I realised once again that no-one really needs to spend money to get a quality product that's reliable and easy to use for backing up partitions and logical drives. DriveImage XML is available in a free Private Edition for home users, and a Commercial Edition for multiple users, with licenses starting at $100. Both run on Windows XP, Server 2003 and Vista, offer compression to minimise the size of backup files, and can even back up the partition on which they are running. Unfortunately, multi-boot users can't back up other hidden Windows partitions, as they can with Drive Image 2002, but since DriveImage XML's install size is under 3MB you can simply install it on each Windows partition and run it from there.
A service is an executable that performs specific functions, runs in the background and does not require user interaction until particular circumstances or events occur. Services can be configured to start when the operating system is booted and run in the background as long as Windows is running, or they can be started (or stopped) by some other application or service as and when required. Where a service is loaded at boot time its 'startup type' is set to 'automatic'. When configured to load as an when required by some other service or application the 'startup type' is set to 'manual'. 2ff7e9595c
